Today I went to the Hsi Lai Buddist Temple. I took my mom for her birthday gift. It was also the last day of the Chinese New Year. It was decorated beautifully with red lanterns and ribbons everywhere. My mom has always loved the Chinese and Asian cultures so I knew she would enjoy this trip : )

This is the Happy Buddah! He says not to worry. I bought I little 2 inch gold version to take home and put next to my bed to remind me not to worry so much. I tend to be a worry wart, and I really hate it!

This is a beautiful spot! At the top of the picture is the beautiful Quan yin. There was a really nice bookstore at the temple, and a dining hall. We had lunch there, it was a 7.00 donation for a really nice buffet of Chinese food. We really enjoyed it. Then there were a few vendors outside the main shrines. We sat in the shrine and quietly watched people come in and light incense and kneel and pray. The Buddahs in the shrines were enormous and beautiful. They all had such pleasant expressions on their faces...

This is the staircase leading up to the main shrine.

Beautiful photos! What a perfect day and great choice for your Mom's birthday. How could anyone worry when they look at that Buddha? My Mom's birthday is also close to the Chinese New Year. I hope that the Ox brings us a big change in fortune, from bad to good.
