This was our playground last week, I took 2 of my boys skiing for the first time ever, we went local for the day instead of our usual New Years trip to the snow for a week because there wasn't any snow! Fortunately the local mountains are able to make snow every night for the ski resort. Had a great time. My boys took to skiing very quickly and I picked it back up very quickly after 20 years, suprize!
Today I went back to my old job, just temporarily, to help out while they are short handed. I quit last year because my family is a full time job and there just weren't enough hours in a day. I was suprized at what a good time I had, how much fun it was to dress up, talk with others, drink coffee, work, and how much better I felt. I didn't notice all my little aches and pains. I realize I need to take better care of myself, and not just my family. I felt happier and in a more pleasant mood when I got off. I need to make the effort to dress up more often, take care of my appearance, get out a little more without my family. I didn't expect to feel so good. Something to think about!

Hi Redwoman,
I can relate to your feeling of feeling kind of "up" after a day of work. Health problems have put me out of the job world three times over the last ten years. I tend to get frumpy and caught up in my own ideas when I'm home too much. Now that I am working again, it is stressful sometimes to find the clothes, pack the lunch, etc. But how great it is to have work buddies, work sisters, birthday celebrations, big laughs and so on.
I'm jealous! Of your ski day and of your newly found love for work. I've had my craziest moments locked up in a office.
It's ironic how we tend to hate the idea of going to a job but once we are there ... we enjoy it. Know the feeling. I think that all caregivers tend to forget that they need to take care of themselves ... it's good that you've taken note of this lack and are planning ways to "fix" it.
Maybe there's a pair of shoes for feeling good but not dressed up ... I've some loverly fringed moccasins.
