Saturday

Pike's Place Market in Seattle. The Peonies were beautiful.

Aren' these beautiful? So much more so in real life!
It's been a busy few weeks, summer camps, etc. Youngest son went to "Irish soccer camp" for a week, which means the coaches actually came here to teach from Ireland. Very cool. My sister's (in photo) husband is a native of Ireland. The coaches were a bunch of really nice young men and 3 girls too. We hosted two of them at our home for a week which is how the program operates since the coaches don't really receive alot of pay, it is more the experience of traveling to America. If they can be hosted by families and fed their expenses are less. My son really enjoyed having them here and it was really nice for me too. I was interesting hearing about their culture and where they live and I think they found us interesting too (?). They seemed suprized to hear that we were real, live American Indians. But we get that here too sometimes. Also the county fair opened this past week or so, and we always go to that quite often. It is here for 4 weeks and just down the street. We have already been 5 times I think, and they've only been here 2 weeks. But we love to go to the fair in the evening and walk around, watch the shows and live bands, watch the artists create, have a drink and eat fair food. Fair food is the best! Pretty sure it's not the best for you, but it's fun to eat it.
Sunday night, my uncle and his family (5 in all) are driving out from New Mexico for their vacation and are going to be staying with us for a week. It should be fun, there is a Pow wow next weekend and they are looking forward to that and going to the beach. Middle son turned 18 last week and will be getting his driving license next week!! Oldest son decided once again that mom's house rules are too hard to follow and moved in with his cousin, where there are parents, but NO rules! Must be nice. They are the "cool" family and we are not. Well, I am trying to be my son's mother and not his friend. One day he will appreciate that I hope. Today I hope to get in a little beading, maybe some sewing-maybe some reading? Got a few new books from the library. James Patterson's "Sunday at Tiffany's" is pretty good so far. Must squeeze in a bike ride and a swim with youngest son too, so he doesn't sit in front of the TV all day!
