Crazy busy weekend!

Well, I'm talking about last weekend but this weekend is going to be the same, crazy busy!!!  So last Saturday started with a bang, literally!  Middle  Son's car was parked out front and a young girl from the neighborhood slammed into the side of his car after she took down a street sign.  I'm so glad she wasn't hurt, she was driving a mini cooper, I hate to think what might have happened if that street sign had hit her windshield on it's way down.  This was about an hour and a 1/2 before same son was supposed to graduate from college.   Several  family members all showed up for his graduation and he wasn't there!  I tried to stay calm but he called and said he and his friend who was with him got on the freeway and it was a parking lot and they couldn't get off, just had to sit in traffic and wait.  He did show up about 12 minutes into the ceremony and as there is a lot of things going on, speakers, etc. it was okay.   So glad because after 2 years of college I would have not wanted to miss seeing him walk up and get his diploma.   He is transferring to a private college about an hour and 1/2 away, far enough to live in the dorms and be on his own and close enough to come home on the weekends and visit.

Well the same day was also the Mr.'s birthday! We went to lunch after the graduation to celebrate the birthday, the bigger kids took off to be with friends.   After Youngest Son and I decorated and wrapped gifts and got an apple pie for Mr.'s birthday cake.  It was a very pleasant evening and a quiet celebration with just the 3 of us.   We had some nice hors d'ouvres and fresh berries and we were so full of those we just had pie and ice cream and no dinner.  Nice.

Sunday of course was Mother's Day.  I'm truly happy if everyone is just nice and pleasant and gets along, maybe washes some dishes or some other chore and brings me my coffee from Starbucks.  Mr. and Y.S. wanted to take me to brunch at a really nice restaurant that I love in L.A., but I really just wanted to stay close to home.   We wound up going to the swapmeet and had corn dogs and beer.  I'm not really corn dogs and beer girl but it was perfect and it was fun!! Then we went to the dollar movie and saw the Lorax.   Very cute movie.

The weekend coming, I will be the Head Lady dancer at a pow wow ( a man, woman, young girl and young boy participate as the Head dancers and lead everyone out in the arena, encourage everyone to keep dancing, etc.)   It is an honor to be asked.  I've done it lots of times but this is the first time in about 6 years.    It's all day from about 11:00pm till 9:00pm.   Luckily it is as one day pow wow as I will be having a graduation/bon voyage party for Middle Son on Sunday.  We decided to do it a week after graduation and closer the the day he is leaving for one month to study art abroad in Italy.   Lucky boy, I'm almost more excited than he is.   I never would have dreamed of doing anything like that at his age!

Wow! So many things going on. I'm glad that girl was ok too and that your son still made it there. Happy belated Mother's Day to you. I also studied art in Italy back in the college days....he will love it!
