I see that I have not posted since August! Wow. So much is going on with my Youngest Son starting junior high and other things, painting my room, cleaning carpets, I've been so busy. I still read my favorite blogs but just don't seem to have the time to sit and write. So today I am taking the time.
This is me and my nephew Chris. He is my twin sister's son. I am very close to her children. I took him with me to New Mexico in August on my last trip. I wound up leaving him there. He was having a terrible time in California, he couldn't find a job, couldn't figure out what he wanted to do and worst of all was hanging around with the wrong people and not getting along with his mom. When I just went back recently after not seeing him for a month he looks so much better! I am so proud of him, he found a good job and has been working hard at it. He likes where he is. He is content. He is a little lonely, he has only visited our reservation a couple of times so it is all pretty new to him. But he knew he needed to make a change and I am so proud of him for doing it. He is getting to know the family and I know he will be okay. While we were there this time, his mom and I helped him find a cute little apartment too.
He is a cook at a restaurant in the hotel/casino that our tribe owns. He had never cooked before but they are teaching him and he is learning fast!
These guys were running around like stray dogs! Too bad we didn't have any apples : )
My niece ran in the Miss Mescalero pageant and she won. She will get to go to different parades and pow wows, fairs and other events and represent our tribe. ( She is actually my third cousin but in the Apache way, because her grandmother is my first cousin and we are considered sisters, that makes her kids and their kids my nieces and nephews. Definitely gets a little confusing : |
She is a beautiful girl inside and out and she will do an excellent job!
We took a little time to go out to the cemetery and clean up some family graves a little bit, pull some weeds. It is such a beautiful place, not like your typical cemetery but out in the mountains and spread out this way and that.

What a beautiful post! I love seeing what you are your family are up to. Fitting time to go to the cemetery for some maintenance. Yes, Halloween is coming! I have to get my decorations out too. :)
Wow, you've been up to quite a lot! I love the photos and I really love the old cemetery. You don't see them like that where I live. Sorry I haven't been around. I'm just now trying to get back to my blogging groove. I've changed the name of my blog from Happy Little Circus to Room 52. You can find me at roomfiftytwo.blogspot.com
Hope all is well with you!
Jane
