I planted a flower garden on the side of my house a few months ago. Nothing at all had been growing there, it was just dirt. I planted a whole bunch of assorted seeds, all together not in any order or anything. I just scattered them around. Well, this one plant starts growing and I can't tell what it is. It now has grown to be about 3 feet tall and about as wide, with white flowers that only open for a short time after dark, and they have spikey green balls the size of walnuts on them. It really wanted to find out what it was, so of course I went to the internet. I found an exact picture of what it is, it is Jimson Weed, or Datura Stramonium, also known as Angels Trumpet, Devil's Trumpet, Zombie Cucumber (!) on a neat website called The Gardeners Club. Members help each other identify plants that they find or pop up in their garden unplanted, like me.. Another name for it is Moonflower, which I prefer, due to the time it opens its flowers. It is extremely poisonous and can be fatal if ingested. It is a member of the Nightshade family. I guess I will have to dig it up? My kids are old enough to leave it alone. I just am amazed that it just popped up in my garden and grew so big and tall, like an alien. I planted Nastursiums, morning glorys, marigolds, bachelor buttons, but not Datura Stramonium. Even the names sounds ominous. I really kind of like the plant, it isn't exactly pretty, but interesting! It is a hallucinogen from what I have read. And people who have taken it report the hallucinations to be horrifying. Americans Indians used it in some of their manhood ceremonies according to another site. I will have to research that one. Anyway, my gardens are really looking nice and growing, and I planted corn which seems to grow overnight truly, I guess that's where the expression, "Watching the corn grow" comes from, you really can almost see it. It about 5 feet tall. I planted everything on EarthDay.

Haha! Things have a way of popping up in the garden unexpected. Ain’t nature grand!
This morning, I went out to trim back a particularly overgrown part of our yard and discover a bramble of blackberries on edge of our property. It was covered in fruit. I called BF to take a look and he got all excited. He got me to promise a pie and then got all worried that I was pruning them back. I told him it was good for the berries. I made that up.
A lot of folks in California kept Jimson Weed in otherwise perfectly manicured gardens. Isn’t a native plant? A mature bush can look pretty neat.
Between the jimson weed and morning glory, you’ve got quite the psychedelic garden growing there, Sister ; )
