Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! We had alot of fun yesterday and last night getting ready for Halloween. We finished off the outside of the house with lights and our candy table and fortune teller head in the picture. We got about 50 or more trick or treaters and gave out tons of candy. I roasted a pumpkin and made pumpkin soup. My mom brought over homemade pumpkin bread. I decided to try out a recipe from "Suzie the Foodie" that just looked so cute and simple. They tasted great and were super cute. But it took 5 of us to beat the egg whites into submission!!!! I couldn't find the cord for my mixer and after looking for about 30 minutes I thought Oh well, I'll just do it by hand! Big mistake! I had doubled the recipe and used 4 egg whites instead of 2. My mom, husband, son and son's friend and I had to take turns beating the mixture. It took a good 30 minutes I bet, and we would all beat until we just couldn't anymore and then pass the bowl to the next, it's hard on the arm and wrist!!! But they were adorable and tasted good and all got eaten : )

Aren't they just the cutest little ghosties!!! It is the first time I have every made meringue and when I can find my mixer cord I will try it again, it was pretty fun and very tasty. Maybe they could be made into snowmen for Christmas? I love the little ghost in the very front of the picture, he really looks like he's trying to scare someone.

This is what the trick or treater saw when they came up the walk with fog from the fog machine! The talking head would go off by motion and scared quite a few people. It can be a little creepy, it has gone off in the box before and scared me! A good time was had by all I think. We got a lot of little kids and by the end of the night we got quite a few teenagers too. Why not? Nobody's too old for some Halloween fun.

And then of course by the end of the evening everyone is tired and candied out!

Absolutely FANTASTIC! Wow, LOVE this post and I am so super impressed with everything you did. Where on earth did you get that fortune teller head? I love that! It was all very spooky and super cool. Oh dear, you beat the egg whites by hand? You culinary warrior! And your ghosts were absolutely fantastic, they're perfect and you're right, the one in the front does look like he is trying to scare people extra hard. Awesome, absolutely awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your Halloween with us!

Your decorations are awesome as usual. The meringue ghosts are also very cute, and I'm sooooo impressed by the fact that you made them without a mixer!

Love your Halloween decorations , everything looked wonderful & spooky , sounds like you all had a great night , wish we had that many trick-or-treaters , we're in a very rural area. The Grands are my only trick-or-treaters.
