The skies were so beautiful last night! As usual my camera (iphone) didn't really do them justice but that is what I had with me. The colors were so much more vibrant than the pictures show. A few minutes later there was a deep dark red at the very bottom. Everyone loves a pretty sunset don't they? They mean a little more to me. When I see a beautiful, amazing sunset I think of my great grandmother. She would alway look out the window or run outside for a beautiful sunset. She lived next door to my aunt in her later years and would call her on the phone to share the sunset and ask if she had had time to stop and look. Now that she is gone and now that sharing photos is so easy via email, facebook and instant messaging my family and I will share an amazing sunset with each other and think of her. Such a nice way she gave us to remember her. Of course there are many, many more. Fried chicken, (she made the very best) Mentholatum, she swore by it for everything from dry skin to aching feet and too many others to list. But I think the sunsets are the ones that make us all pause during our busy day and look and remember her. How much she meant to us all and how much the beauty of the evening skies meant to her.

Wow! That's a gorgeous and vibrant sunset. Some people say that, before long, cameras will be a thing of the past and most people will use their phones for photos. Love the story about your great grandmother too!
Beautiful sunset and a lovely memory, thanks for sharing. My grandmother loved her garden, sunsets, all the things of the natural world. I remember her sitting and looking out the window for hours, fascinated by the way the wind moved in the trees. To me, the greatest legacy she left was her love of nature.
Oh that is beautiful! And so sweet. A ritual that happens every day that will keep her close to you.
