I am so excited!!! I got the email yesterday from the city that my name was up next for a community garden parcel . I signed up about 8 months ago at number 22 on the waiting list so I really wasn't expecting to get in until next spring. But the woman in charge of the garden decided there were too many parcels not being used properly and so she cleaned house and I got the email. I had a garden parcel in another garden about 9 years ago, but it was really bad timing for me, my youngest was 2 and I would have to take him with me. He would tramble other people's gardens and watching him every second and trying to garden didn't work and so I gave it up. But now I can go alone while he is in school and now at 12 he may even want to help. My mother is going to be my gardening partner and we will both plant it and take care of it. She has a studio at the beach with nowhere to plant anything and I have a yard but most of it is cement and pool and the little bit of dirt/grass I do have is for the dogs or is shaded by trees all day so nowhere for a garden. We are going to plant all kinds of vegetables and some flowers too. They have workshops at the garden once a month on composting from your kitchen which I am interested in too. I think it will be fun along with providing fresh vegetables and some flowers from our table. We went over this morning to have a look and were the only ones there and wound up just sitting and chatting in the sun it was such a nice atmosphere and it is beautiful out today. I'm really looking forward to getting started!

That is fantastic news! Oh you're going to love it. :) I can't wait to see your garden grow. Congrats!
That is awesome! What's even more awesome is the chance to be part of a gardening community. I hope you enjoy lots of fresh produce :)
Good luck with the garden!
I'm jealous!
All I've got is three 'tree-pits' outside the building about 3 feet square.
Keep us posted about what you plant!
